Amanda Hinds from New Jersey is a testament to the power of traditional weight loss methods through diet and exercise. At 31 years old, she embarked on a fitness journey that led to an incredible 80-pound weight loss, all without resorting to medication or invasive treatments.
Hinds initially found motivation to start her fitness journey before the COVID-19 pandemic but faced setbacks when her gym closed during lockdown. This disruption caused her to gain 100 pounds over a year, leaving her feeling frustrated and disappointed with herself. However, Hinds had a Peloton bike that she had purchased earlier, inspired by her love for indoor cycling and a particular instructor she enjoyed.
Despite initial challenges and fears, Hinds returned to using her Peloton bike in 2021, marking a pivotal moment in her fitness journey. She realized that while the journey might be tough, it was entirely achievable with determination and perseverance. This shift in mindset allowed her to shed 55 pounds by August 2022, documenting her progress on TikTok.
Using her own playlists and emulating an instructor’s style, Hinds found joy and motivation in cycling, eventually auditioning to become a formal instructor. Despite grappling with imposter syndrome initially, the support from her attendees boosted her confidence, leading her to lose a total of 65 pounds by teaching cycling classes.
In addition to cycling, Hinds incorporated running into her routine, recently completing a half marathon—a feat she never imagined possible before. She also made changes to her eating habits, focusing on healthier choices while maintaining a balanced approach that includes occasional treats without guilt or strict restrictions.
For Hinds, the journey goes beyond just numbers on a scale; it’s about feeling fit, empowered, and like her best self. Her story highlights the transformative power of dedication, resilience, and self-belief in achieving significant weight loss and overall well-being.
